The Tampere City Strategy

Tampere Music Festivals is a part of the City of Tampere’s Public Cultural Services. Our policies and practices are based on the strategy of the City of Tampere. On this page, we have compiled information on the practical responsibility actions that the Tampere Music Festivals organisation implements in its daily operation.

Actions

A woman walks in the Finlayson area on brightly painted asphalt, wearing a T‑shirt that says “Do good, be better”.

Social sustainability

We are committed to proactively advance equality, and we have action plan guidelines for how to report and deal with inappropriate behaviour.

We offer internships for students, including persons who speak Finnish as a second language.

Information regarding accessibility issues is available on our website.

A part of our festival programme is always free of charge for the audience, and to most of our events it is possible to get tickets with the Kaiku card.

At our events, we consider health and safety aspects of the visitors’ experience. We follow the latest recommendations and communicate those clearly. Ear plugs are available in those events that may potentially cause hearing damage due to volume levels.

We have named a harassment contact person, to whom you can report inappropriate behaviour.

Environmental and climate sustainability

We encourage festival visitors to use environmentally sustainable ways of travelling to the festival by actively providing information regarding public transportation to the venues.

Our food catering and collaboration partner restaurants’ menus always include at least one salty and one sweet vegan option.

Our operations do not create ingredient or food waste, and in the case that there is surplus in food portions those are gifted onwards.

We avoid using plastic ware. In the situations that require plastic ware, we use biodegradable dishes instead.

Some of the materials that are produced for the event are reusable or from recycled sources.

Safer space policy

We adhere to the principles of a safer event and also encourage our audience, artists, volunteers, festival guests and other stakeholders to follow them. We communicate the principles of a safer event clearly and through multiple channels.
